The Rustin/Lorde Breakfast:
SUM will continue to produce the annual Rustin/LordeBreakfast which honors the lives of civil rights activists Bayard Rustin and Audre Lorde, and celebrates and supports organizers, artists and others actively involved in social change work.
Leadership Development:
SUM will organize leadership training activities to enhance the capacity of community organizing and advocacy work.
Intergenerational Bridge-Building:
SUM will develop intergenerational activities and spaces to foster mutual understanding and promote the cross-generational exchange of wisdom.
Cultural Work:
SUM will provide cultural activities and support for artistic expression that inspires the exchange of ideas, highlights issues, and calls to action.
1. Vote or Register to Vote
Ensure your voice is heard in every election. Check your registration status at the GA SoS website.
2. Support Advocacy Organizations
Get involved with groups that fight for your rights, such as Georgia Equality, Lambda Legal, NAACP, ACLU, The People's Agenda, or AARP. Donate if you can.
3. Engage with Your Faith Community
If faith is important to you, connect with an affirming church or spiritual group. Attend services when possible and contribute as you're able. If you're not religious, support spaces that uplift and respect all individuals.
4. Support LGBTQ+ Businesses
Spend your money where you're valued. Consider independent stores like Charis Books and More when shopping for books and other goods.
5. Take action. Stay engaged. Build community.
